    1. What is a SALT Ministry?

It is a member driven ministry, serving under the oversight of local church leaders, that works on various projects that deal with issues the local community is currently facing or on matters that affect the entire state. It does this by appropriately involving the local church to influence its community, culture and government. [Back to top]

    3. What is the biblical basis for a SALT Ministry?

    4. What is the structure of a SALT Ministry team?

The SALT Ministry team can be whatever size the members and church leadership want it to be. The Ministry team determines when to meet and the projects it takes on, as agreed to by church leadership. Wisconsin Family Council acts as a resource for the SALT Ministry. [Back to top]

    6. This ministry sounds like more work for our church and church leaders. Is it?

Remember, this is a member-driven ministry serving under the oversight of your church leader. 9. This ministry looks political, is it?

NO —in the sense of the word “political” as defined by activities which influence the election of candidates for public office. You may be appropriately involved in legislative issues at times; it is your right to be involved. The SALT Ministry Manual includes a 12-page appendix, Guidelines for Political Activities by Churches and Pastors, that discusses in some detail what is and what is not allowable political activity for churches and pastors. Wisconsin Family Council is a non-partisan not-for-profit organization and abides by the same guidelines as you would. [Back to top]

    10. Can I really make a difference?

Yes, you can!!! Motivating just a few individuals in your congregation can make a difference, whether it is pushing back a casino proposition, preventing a pornographic video store from moving into your neighborhood, or informing your congregation about candidates at elections. Being organized and informed about issues so that you are ready to act is key to making an impact on your community. [Back to top]

    16. We can't form a SALT Ministry now. What can we do?

Wisconsin Family Council understands you may not be able to have a fully functioning SALT Ministry at your church right now. Nonetheless, we want you to have access to our current resources so that when an issue of interest comes up you may strategically impact your community, culture and government with our shared Judeo-Christian values.

That is why we are also offering churches our SALT Resource Network—one step shy of a fully SALT Ministry. If you and other members of your church would like to be a part of WFC's SALT Resource Network and keep up to date on current issues and the resources we have available and are developing, email WFC's SALT Ministry or call toll-free 1-888-378-7395.
