Dedicated to strengthening and preserving marriage, family, life and liberty in Wisconsin
About WFC

The Wisconsin Family Council (WFC) was founded in 1986. Its mission is to forward Judeo-Christian principles and values in Wisconsin. WFC largely accomplishes this mission by informing Wisconsin citizens, churches and policymakers about the important pro-family legislative and cultural issues so that they will be inspired to be involved in preserving and strengthening marriage and family in Wisconsin.

WFC believes major change will not come from the top down, but from the bottom up. What will lead to changes in states and nations starts with changes in a citizen's mind, or a family's life, or a community's values. Accordingly, WFC has served the people of Wisconsin by being influential in numerous areas, including the following:

  • State/national campaign to preserve traditional marriage, most recently the Wisconsin Defense of Marriage Constitutional Amendment proposals
  • Public awareness of cultural and public policy issues through newsletters, informational publications, church bulletin inserts, flyers and petitions
  • Voter information publications for major elections
  • Continuing efforts for true school choice and educational reform
  • Lobbying on pro-family issues to the limit of IRS regulations
  • Statewide radio presence via weekly commentary, "Wisconsin Family Connection," on over 25 stations
  • Statewide speaking engagements
  • Press releases and media interviews
  • Periodic e-mail update ("Family E-Connection")
  • Worldwide web presence (www.wifamilycouncil.org)
  • A physicians' group, Wisconsin Physicians Resource Council
  • VoterVOICE, a web-based grassroots' action program that provides citizens a means to communicate quickly and easily with their elected officials
  • A first-ever WFC branch-WFC-Central Wisconsin, headquartered in Wausau
  • SALT (Salt And Light Together) Ministry to churches

WFC is a one-of-a-kind organization here in Wisconsin-a statewide group, headquartered in Madison, that is dedicated to all the issues affecting Wisconsin families. However, WFC does not work totally independently. Whenever possible, we partner with other state and national groups, including Focus on the Family, the Washington, D.C.-based Family Research Council, Alliance Defense Fund, Wisconsin Abstinence Coalition, Wisconsin Capitol Watch, and Pro-Life Wisconsin.

WFC is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3), non-partisan research and education institute funded solely through tax-deductible gifts and contributions.

WFC's Vision
Our vision is to help the general public and policymakers discover historical Judeo-Christian principles and traditional values. Through this we believe we can promote principles and values that will support family and public life today.

"Without The Wisconsin Family Council's public outreach, encouraging citizens to contact legislators and informing the like-minded, it is unlikely that we would have succeeded in getting the measure [Wisconsin's Defense of Marriage Constitutional Amendment resolution] through both houses for First Consideration this session [2003-2004]."
